A New Way of Being with Patients…

and with Yourself

In 2023, I created the Finley Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Fellowship (FPPF; formerly the Nurse Psychoanalytic/Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Fellowship) because colleagues consistently asked me to after expressing a vast need and desire to learn how to help their patients other than using medication and manualized (third-wave) therapies. As a provider with a full-time psychoanalytic psychotherapy private practice, I know that with the proper training, you can learn how to incorporate psychotherapy ideas, techniques, and practices to transform how you help others. Additionally, this way of working allows providers to get off the 15-minute medication management treadmill and enjoy a contemplative, relaxed, rich, deep, heartfelt, and thriving professional lifestyle and practice. This program can also prepare those who want to continue after the fellowship to apply to psychoanalytic training and be better prepared for an immersive psychoanalytic experience.

Who is this Fellowship for?

  • Actively licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNP), Physician Assistants (PA), Physicians (MD/DO), and Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) in the United States of America OR actively enrolled PMHNP, PA, MD/DO. or LCSW graduate students. If you have another mental health licensure or are a graduate student in a mental health program with licensure not listed here, please do apply, but know that continuing education credit acceptance is not guaranteed.

  • Practitioners who want to do more than prescribe medications.

  • Individuals who are passionate and curious about the human mind and soul.

  • Those wanting a supportive community of other practitioners (or students) who are interested in holistic mental health care and psychotherapy.

  • Must have your own active individual malpractice insurance policy.

  • Please note, exceptions in the past have been made for practitioners practicing outside the USA, international students, and for other mental health provider licensure, so please inquire if you would like to apply but do not meet listed criteria.

This year-long fellowship is designed to provide life-changing ideas that will help you deepen your work with patients right away and also provide a comprehensive foundation for any future psychoanalytic and/or psychotherapy training you embark on your journey. You will also learn a lot about yourself as well. The following topics are covered (please don’t be alarmed if you do not know what these ideas/terms mean yet- you will learn):
